IOP & ICAST

The first international conference of animal science and technology (ICAST) was held in 2018, November 6 – 7 at the Swissbellinn Hotel in Makassar. The theme of the conference is “Optimizing Local Resources for Animal Production in the Tropical Environment”. ICAST 2018 presented keynote speakers from various countries including Prof. Dr. Adham M. Abdou from Egypt, Prof. Dr. Abd. Razak Alimon from UPM Malaysia, Prof. P.G. Duran., Ph.D from the Philippine Carabou Center, Dr. Kanika Umpuch from Thailand, as well as invited speakers from within the country such as Prof. Dr. Ir. Ali Agus, DEA., IPU from UGM, Prof. Dr. James Hellyward, M.S from Unand West Sumatra, Prof. Dr. Ir. Suyadi., MS from UB and Prof. Dr. Herry Sonjaya, DEA from Unhas. The 2018 ICAST seminar participants came from various researchers from several universities and research institutions from within the country.  The output of the 1st International Conference of Animal Science and Technology November 6 – 7, 2018, has been published in the IOP Conference Series: Earth and Environmental Sciences (EES) Volume 247, 2019. 

The following year, ICAST 2019 was held in November 2019 with the theme ” Sustainable Animal Production and Welfare in the Tropical Environment”. This activity presents keynote speakers from abroad, namely; Prof. Dr. Danilda Hufana Duran (Philippines), Prof. Dr. Metha Wanapat (Thailand), Dr. drh. Gozali R. Moekti, M.Sc (Brunei Darussalam), and Dana Chow, MBA (Singapore). In addition, this activity also invited speakers from within the country, namely; Prof. Dr. Ir. Cece Sumantri, M.Sc (Bogor Agricultural University), Prof. Ir. Burhanuddin Sundu, M.Sc., Ph.D (Tadulako University), Dr. Ir. Syahruddin Said, M. Agr. Sc. (Association of Indonesian Animal Husbandry Scientists), and Ir. Teddy Candinegara (Behn Meyer Chemical Indonesia). The output of  the 2nd ICAST 2019 proceeding was in the process of publishing by IOP which will be published at EES volume 492 in 2020.

The 3rd ICAST International conference 2020 with the theme “Animal Production and Sustainable Agriculture for Food Security in the Tropical Environment” is expected to have an impact on increasing understanding of the importance of local Indonesian livestock. Furthermore, the livestock sub-sector can be used as a driving force for regional and national economies. The output for The 3rd International Conference of Animal Science and Technology 2020 will also be published by the same publisher with ICAST 2018 and 2019.
